Hong Kong January 26, 2011 and February 9, 2011

Welcome!

To say that HK impresses - is to say nothing.

City is great!

Arriving to Hong Kong I got a shock which was described by an American anthropologist Kalervo Oberg in 1954 as "cultural".

By pictures seen before - it's possible to image how city environment looks. But all the smells, sounds, colors, language - everything is so different in Asia for the first time.

Right side drive also, makes brain stuck for a while.

Not easy to get used to turn head right before crossing the road.

In a city center most of sidewalks are on the first floor level. This way skyscrapers are connected. Space on the ground is intended to public transport.

By cable car to Victoria Peak — the highest point of Hong Kong.

View from the island on New Territories.

And a view backwards.

Park.

Despite the fact park is very green the sensation there is more or less like this:

In the end of January people are getting ready for Chinese New Year celebration.

Double-decker tram.

Double-decker bus.

Taxi.

Bamboo scaffolding.

Not so much free land is available here.

Street market.

Street trash container.

Another trash containers.

Electric box. Can't image same color of the same thing somewhere in Europe.

In Chinese no difference to read from left to right or from right to left, or even vertical. So magazines can have its spines on both sides - right or left.

Street sign.

Subway logo looks like Russian letter "Ж".

Laundry.

Just some more pictures.
